Kiel woman faces charges after standoff

A 45-year-old Kiel woman is facing charges after an early morning standoff.

It happened just after midnight on Monday morning in the 100 block of Raider Heights.

The City of Kiel Police Department responded to a call for a family dispute. When they arrived the woman locked herself in a cellar type room, armed herself, and refused to come out.

The woman did eventually surrender to officers, and was taken into custody at the Manitowoc County Jail.

She is being held on the following charges:
· Child Abuse / Recklessly Cause Harm (Felony)
· Failure to Comply With Officer’s Attempt to Take into Custody (Felony)
· Operate a Firearm While Intoxicated (Misdemeanor)
· Resisting Arrest (Misdemeanor)
· Disorderly Conduct (Misdemeanor)

Assistance was provided by the New Holstein Police Department, and deputies from Manitowoc, and Calumet Counties.

The incident remains under investigation.
