MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Democratic Attorney General Josh Kaul has withdrawn Wisconsin’s support for laws in Indiana and Ohio that limit abortion access.

Former Republican Attorney General Brad Schimel filed amicus briefs supporting the laws in a pair of lawsuits challenging them. The Capital Times reported Tuesday that Kaul withdrawn the state’s support on Monday. Kaul said the laws seek to restrict reproductive rights.

The Indiana law bans abortions based the fetus’ gender, race, disability or potential disability. The 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has blocked the law but Indiana officials are appealing to the U.S. Supreme Court.

The Ohio law bans abortions based on genetic tests indicating the fetus may have Down syndrome. A federal judge has blocked that law. The state has appealed to the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.
