UPDATE: Man found guilty in Methadone overdose case

UPDATE:

An Appleton man has been found guilty of playing a role in a deadly methadone overdose.

The jury ruled that Steven Mattsfield sold the methadone that lead to Jason Canaday's overdose death in Appleton in October of 2015.

Mattsfield faces up to 40 years in prison and up to $100,000 in fines when he is sentenced on September 21st in Outagamie County court.

He will still be held on a $50,000 bond until sentencing.

A jury trial started Monday for an Appleton man who police say played a role in a methadone overdose.

Steven Mattfield appeared in Outagamie County court.

He is charged with First Degree Reckless Homicide in the overdose death of Jason Canaday. Police say Canaday died after taking Methadone at a home on West Wisconsin Avenue in October 2015.

The felony carries a maximum 40-year prison sentence and up to $100,000 in fines. 

The jury trial continues tomorrow.
