Brown County health officials held a joint-meeting Tuesday night, open to the public, to discuss the effects wind turbines could have on people who live near them.
Some people who live near the Shirley Wind Farm, in Glenmore, say the turbines there have been causing them to become ill.
On Tuesday, several health officials and experts presented findings from several recent studies on how living by a turbine could possible cause symptoms like headaches and other illnesses.
But some say, there still needs to be more research done to prove that the turbines consistently cause those health effects on people.
“Vroom, vroom, vroom, that is a constant…it can hover over your house and never leave” says Joane Lagerman who lives near a wind turbine farm in Fond Du Lac County. “It’s the train in your backyard that never moves.”
Local physician Dr. Robert Mccunay says, “I also think that for public policy, that is where turbines or any other industrial sites should be set what noise levels should be associated with distances and so forth that should be based on good solid science
