A dream prom is on the way for 14-year-old Jerika Bolen of Appleton.
She has Spinal Muscular Atrophy, a genetic disease that's stealing the use of her muscles and leaving her with unbearable pain.
Jerika and her family have decided to end her suffering. Soon she will enter hospice care, but Jerika has a final request, she wants a prom.
The Fox Valley community is helping make her dream come true. Preparations are underway at the Grand Meridian for the big event. They're busy decking the hall in black and lime, her favorite colors..
Her favorite foods will also be served and a DJ will keep the crowd jumping.
Jerika's Prom begins at 7:00 p.m. Friday. It's free, but the family is accepting donations.
