A 40-year-old Iola man received an 18 year prison sentence Tuesday afternoon after his conviction for 1st Degree Sexual Assault of a Child.
Waupaca County Circuit Court Judge Raymond Huber sentenced Gene R. Balthazor of Iola to spend the first 8 years in initial confinement and the remaining 10 years on extended supervision, according to a news release from the Manawa Police Department.
During extended supervision Balthazor will be monitored by the Department of Corrections Probation and Parole Department. Balthazor must also register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
Balthazor was found guilty after he entered a no contest plea on October 20 and the Department of Corrections completed a pre-sentence investigation. The plea and sentencing was the result of an investigation conducted by the Manawa Police Department after an 11-year-old girl made the disclosure.
