The 2018 inland fishing season in Wisconsin for most fish species begins Saturday.
"If the northern lakes are still locked up, the rivers are a good option for some good walleye and pike fishing," Wisconsin Fisheries Director Justine Hasz said in a statement.
Anglers are likely to find hungry northern pike and walleye, the news release said.

“Anglers are reminded to dress in layers, not fish alone, take a cell phone and make sure someone knows your outing plans - including where you are and your anticipated return,” the release said.
