The Medical Examiner's Office in Dane County is trying to identify the origin of a human skull and bone fragments found on a beach near Bailey's Harbor.
The discovery was made by a few children who were playing on the beach last week.
Investigators say forensic anthropologists will try to confirm whether or not the skull and bones are Native American.
The exact location of where the bones were discovered is not being released.
Officers say they are trying to prevent people from coming to the area to dig for bones.
