HOWARD, WI -- The Howard Fire Department continues to monitor a fire at a farm in Brown County.
The fire broke out at 12:30 a.m. Saturday on the 1500 block of Pinecrest Road in Howard.
As of 8 a.m. Monday, two silos were still burning on the inside.
The fire chief said they are not battling the fire inside the silos because the structures are compromised. He said it is not worth the risk of them collapsing and injuring firefighters.
Officials say there is hay and straw inside the silos that will continue to burn. You may see smoke or flames coming from the farm over the next several days.
The Howard Fire Department will continue to monitor the fire.
According to the fire chief, no other buildings or property on the farm is at risk. Everything has been cleared from the area so it doesn't start on fire.
Officials say more than a dozen pigs were lost in the fire over the weekend.
Fire crews spent 14 hours on scene battling the fire on Saturday. They were back out for several hours overnight into Monday morning monitoring the fire again.
