At 5:28 a.m. Thursday, the Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the area of Shaky Lake Road north of Highway 96 for a report of a pedestrian who was struck by a train.
According to witnesses on scene, a 24-year-old man from Hortonville left his vehicle and laid down on the tracks prior to being struck by the Canadian National train.
The man was transported from the scene by Theda Star helicopter. He later died at a local hospital. The sheriff’s office was assisted on scene by Dale Fire and First Responders.
