A high school is starting its football season with a newly-renovated stadium.
Hortonville High School announced that Akin Field has updated its bleachers, lighting, scoreboard, field surface, bathroom facilities, and concessions.
The renovations meet current building codes, provide a more durable surface for students to perform and practice, and creates larger spaces to accommodate the growing student and community population.
A need to renovate Akin Field was recognized and the community and school district has pulled together to support the project over the last year.
A series of events on Friday will mark the opening of the new field, including a ribbon cutting, the Varsity Football Game versus Appleton West, and post-game fireworks.
