ASHWAUBENON, WI -- After your Thanksgiving meal, you can start your Christmas shopping.
Several stores are open right now for their Black Friday deals.
It's time to push that tryptohpan out of your system if you're hoping to have a consumer's edge over the crowds of shoppers.
At Shopko, in Ashwaubenon, doors opened at 4 pm, to the delight of the hundreds of shoppers that had been waiting in line outside, some for hours.
According to the National Retail Federation, 30 percent of yearly retail sales happen between now and Christmas.
In 2015, experts say more than 72 million people shopped on Black Friday alone.
Granted, we're one day early, but that still didn't stop 35 million people shopping on Thanksgiving last year.
And that demand from previous years is fueling this year's turnout.
"We look at the confidence levels quite regularly, and they dipped mid-year when all this [presidential election] was going on," says Shopko CEO Peter McMahon. "They've come back very strongly, so I think this is going to be one of our best Black Fridays ever."
"I just went to J.C. Penny, and now I've come back to Shopko," laughs shopper Premanand Rabi, "I'm going to Target, Walmart, Toys R Us."
Many shoppers we spoke with say they're hoping to knock out the brunt of their holiday shopping either tonight, or at least before Sunday.
