Surrogates for Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton are making the rounds in Wisconsin, but the candidate herself has stayed away since the primary election months ago.
Clinton's campaign has long seen Wisconsin as safely in her corner, based on strong early voting numbers in Democratic counties, the state's long history of going Democratic in presidential years and polls showing her with an advantage.
The latest Marquette University Law School poll released Wednesday showed Clinton slightly ahead 46 percent to 40 percent.
The poll of 1,255 likely voters was conducted Oct. 26 through Monday and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.
The last time one of the Republican and Democratic presidential candidates did not campaign in Wisconsin in the general election was 1972.
