A donation drive for victims of Hurricane Harvey will take place Thursday, Aug. 31, at "Officials Den Bowl and Spirits" in Hilbert, Wisconsin.
One local family planning to visit their daughter in Houston reached out through Facebook asking for donations. A mother in Sherwood was moved to participate after her own personal experience.
Angela Brandenburg said her daughter Rayna was a premature baby and was kept in the neonatal intensive care unit. She said there was an outpouring of support for her family when they were in need and now she wants to pay it forward.
"There were so many people that continued to lift up our names in prayer to give to us, to provide meals for us, to drop off gas cards for us to get to the hospital," said Angela Brandenburg. "We were both not working just to spend extra time with her at periods of time. I've been taking care of her since, and I can't even begin to describe how amazing it feels."
Brandenburg said she noticed a Facebook posting about the drive by her old classmate, Josh Deidrich, requesting baby items. She said she began gathering baby items Rayna no longer uses.
Brandenburg said they are asking for boxes, bags, diaper bags, luggage, and tote bags for Thursday’s donation. She said this will allow people in shelters to store their belongings.
