Health officials are warning consumers about an E. coli outbreak linked to alfalfa sprouts produced by a River Falls company.
But, the owner of Jack & The Green Sprouts owner says E. coli and salmonella testing of its product and facility have been negative.
The Minnesota Department of Health says seven people in Minnesota and two people in Wisconsin have been infected with the same strain of E. coli.
Officials say eight of the nine were exposed to the company's sprouts at a variety of locations, including grocery stores and co-ops and restaurants.
Jack & The Green Sprouts owner Joe Mahoney said Thursday the company will voluntarily recall its alfalfa and alfalfa onion products "out of an abundance of caution."
Mahoney says he couldn't quantify the number of batches involved.
