A new study by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety states that vision problems for drivers'behind the wheel at night may not actually be related to their eyesight.

Research shows that out of the more than 30 mid-sized car models on the market tested for headlight strength, around 30% received a below acceptable or poor grade.

The top performer on the list, the Prius V, has the ability to light an object in the roadway up to 387 feet away. At the bottom of the list, the BMW 3 series could only illuminate an object 128 feet ahead.

According to the same study, nearly half of all traffic-related deaths happen either at night or at dusk when visibility is poor.
