Group calls on Walker to apologize

A comment during Wednesday's budget address by Governor Scott Walker raised the eyebrows of an Appleton group.

The comment in question laid out the Governor's ideals of success. He said, "It is simple: graduate from school, get a job, and wait until you're 21 and married to have a child."

That statement was a step too far for some.

A gathering of supporters joined State Representative Amanda Stuck (D) of Appleton to call on the Governor to apologize for the comment.

They say it's demeaning to single-parents.

Stuck said, "An apology would be a start just to recognize that everybody can be successful and just acknowledge that it's hurtful to people who are struggling right now, who are doing the best they can, who know they will be successful one day."

Stuck pushed back against what she says is the insinuation of laziness by those in need by the Governor.

The Governor has not publicly responded to Stuck's demand.
