Ground broken at new hospital in Marinette

Posted

Marinette is one step closer to getting a brand new 135 million dollar hospital.

This afternoon ground was broke at the new site of the Bay Area Medical Center. It's just a couple of miles away from the old hospital built in 1939. The new facility off of University Drive will have a outpatient Women’s Health Center and also a Regional Cancer Center which will help those dealing with need of care, stay in town.

"Everything is going to be under one roof where women can come and have a mammogram and they can come for their testing and all in one department as opposed to having to go to multiple areas in one building," says Ed Harding the President and CEO of Bay Area Medical Center.

About 40 percent of the project has already been financed through savings over the last decade for the hospital. The new hospital should be opened as soon mid 2018.
