The Village of Gresham is under a water boil notice after a water main break and the school district has canceled classes Wednesday.
The break happened around 5 p.m. on Tuesday and the water system lost pressure. The village said when this happens it can increase the chance that untreated water and harmful microbes can enter your water.
Harmful microbes in drinking water can cause diarrhea, cramps, nausea, headaches or other symptoms. It can also pose a special health risk for infants, some elderly and people with compromised immune systems.
Leaders said it is likely residents will have to boil water for at least two days until the problem is fixed.
The village is repairing the water main.
Since there is no school Wednesday, district leaders say students can wear their costumes on Thursday for the costume contest. The Lion's club festival in the gym will still happen at 6:30 p.m.
