Green Bay police spent several hours on the scene of a standoff situation that ended peacefully Tuesday morning.

The situation began at 9 p.m. Monday at a home on Webster Avenue.

Police said the incident was called in by a woman who said her boyfriend was suicidal and threatening to harm himself.

The swat team was called in to assist after getting little cooperation from the suspect.

Police said the man had barricaded himself inside the home.

Officers were able to evacuate nearby homes and they were confident the general public was not in any danger at any point in time.

Initial reports show the man made threats towards the girlfriend.

Police say overall the incident resolved smoothly and without incident.

The suspect surrendered to police just after 1 a.m.

Officers are still investigating.

The streets reopened around 3 a.m.
