Green Bay Police officers are helping kids in the community just in time for school.

Officers have been handing out backpacks around the community to children who need them.

The idea came after the department received a donation from someone requesting the money be used for something community members really need.

Officers said making a small impact has a big reward.

"Just to see the joy on the kids' faces, theyre now prepared for school, they don't have to worry, you know school is two weeks way, that's huge," said Elizabeth Rocque, a Green Bay juvenile officer.

The backpacks also come with school supplies and a pair of sunglasses.
