Green Bay Packaging held a groundbreaking ceremony Wednesday morning.
Governor Scott Walker, City of Green Bay Mayor Jim Schmitt and Brown County Executive Troy Streckenback joined leaders of Green Bay Packaging and Miron Construction Company at the ceremony.
The ceremony marks Green Bay Packaging's new Green Bay mill. According to the Governor’s office, the $500 million project is expected to preserve more than 1,400 jobs and create 200 new ones statewide.
Governor Walker’s office says Green Bay Packaging’s $500 million investment will be one of the largest economic development projects in state history and the largest ever in Brown County. In Brown County alone, this new investment is expected to preserve 1,100 jobs.
The mill is expected to be fully operational in the spring of 2021.
