Green Bay Mayor Jim Schmitt delivered his 15th State of the City address Wednesday night.
Schmitt told a crowd at the downtown Meyer Theatre that the city’s overall crime rate was down nearly ten percent since 2016, and there were no reported homicides in the city last year.
Schmitt also touched on transportation.
“We’re focused on passing and implementing a new revenue stream to bring in an additional $1.2 million,” Schmitt said.
"We all want better roads and the elimination of a special assessment.
A wheel tax is part of the plan, but funding assistance is needed from the local, state, and federal levels, Schmitt said.
Schmitt previously announced that he does not plan to run for re-election next year.
