Green Bay man facing 12th OWI

A Green Bay man faces his 12th drunk driving arrest.

Appleton police said an officer noticed a car driving without its lights on, on North Division street early Thursday morning.

Appleton Police Sgt. Dave Lund said the driver, Patrick Schober, appeared intoxicated and failed field sobriety tests, which prompted the arrest.

"When you're looking at this number of OWIs that we're talking, that's significant,” he said. “The last one that we had was that high was in January of this year."

There is help out there though, as an Outagamie County official says there is drug and alcohol treatment for offenders.

“It has the benefit of correcting some behaviors that maybe the person has picked up in the past," said the Criminal Justice Treatment Services Director, Bernie Vetrone.

Police said Schober blew a point 0.78 on the breathalyzer.  That number is below the normal legal limit, but because of his prior convictions, police said Schober was subject to only a .02 blood alcohol limit.

Schober is being held on an $11,000 cash only bond and is expected to be back in court on December 19th.
