Police: Attempted carjacking suspect in custody

UPDATED FRIDAY:

The third person involved in was initially reported as an attempted carjacking on Westhill Blvd Thursday afternoon is in custody. The 21-year-old Appleton man is being held at the Outagamie County Jail on charges of disorderly conduct, bail jumping and operating a motor vehicle without owner's concent. He is expected to make an initial court appearance on Monday.

Grand Chute investigators have confirmed the carjacking victim and the 21-year-old do know each other to some degree. This was not a random act.

Several agencies assisted in the attempts to locate the subjects in this case including the Outagamie County Sheriff's office and Appleton Police. Special thanks to Kaukauna Police Department who located and apprehended the third male early Friday morning.

UPDATED: Grand Chute police say the victim of the carjacking knew the men allegedly involved, so it was not a random act.

Grand Chute police say 2 men are being questioned and the search for a 3rd suspect is underway following a reported attempted carjacking early this afternoon. Investigators tell NBC26 Two black men attempted to force a woman and her 6 month old child from her car at Pawn America, 500 Westhill Blvd, Grand Chute.

The incident happened around 1:15 PM. According to a news release, the victim was able to escape her car with her baby after one of the suspects attempted to force her to drive to another location. Once safely inside the business, the man left the scene in the gold Chevy Suburban.

Later in the afternoon, officers located the vehicle in question and are examining it for evidence. No injuries were reported to police.
