Gov. Walker discusses higher education funding

Gov. Walker made a stop in Green Bay Tuesday, discussing his two year budget proposal.

He visited UW-Green Bay to talk about his education funding plan which would cut tuition for resident undergraduate students by five percent.

The 35 million dollars to pay for it is on top of a 100 million dollar increase in general funding.

"There's the 100 plus million of all sort of different things we're plugging in including 42 and a half million which was the UW system request, that's tied to performance.  The 35 million is outside of that.  Because when we talked about lowering tuition, people say that's great, but the one red flag went up, people said don't take that out of our operating budget," said Gov. Walker.

Gov. Walker will present his 2017-20-19 budget to the legislature Wednesday.
