A public golf club in Lakewood Ranch, Florida is introducing a new product in hopes of bringing more people, and perhaps more fun, to the game.
It's called the GolfBoard, and it cruises along the fairways and cart paths. It's kind of a cross between a traditional golf cart and a Segway, using a Tesla lithium battery for power. You stand on it, hit a throttle and off you and your golf clubs go.
Legacy Golf Club in Lakewood Ranch, Florida is believed to be the first public course in Manatee or Sarasota counties to offer the product to customers. General manager Kevin Paschall says the GolfBoard travels up to seven miles on a charge, and players must sign a waiver.
There’s a $5 extra fee to rent one for a round. The machine was named the top new product at the 2014 PGA Merchandise show.
