Glaucoma is the second leading cause of blindness in America. It's a disease that damages the optic nerve and can cause a partial loss of vision and even blindness. What makes it so frightening is glaucoma has no visible symptoms .
 
 
Who is most at risk for glaucoma? 
 
* Risk factors include: 
 
o High eye pressure 
 
o 60-years of age or older 
 
o Family history of glaucoma 
 
o Diabetes 
 
o African-American ethnicity 
 
o Hispanic ethnicity 
 
* If you are at risk for glaucoma, you should be diligent about getting yearly eye exams.  
 
 
The key to fighting glaucoma is early detection. 
 
* Prevea Vision uses SPECTRALIS to produces 3-D images of the eye. It can reveal signs of glaucoma which cannot be seen in a traditional eye exam.
