OCONTO - Two Gillett High School students have been charged for putting cleaning solution into a drink as a “prank” that ended up sending a staff member to the hospital.
Gavin Gilbertson and Hailey Brock, both 17, each face charges of second degree recklessly endangering safety and placing foreign objects in edibles.
The students are both due in court Dec. 10 for initial appearances.
Police said the students put a small amount of cleaning solution into a staff member’s soda bottle on October 20. The staff member told police he noticed an odd smell coming from the bottle he had momentarily left unattended, and the odor had not been there when he purchased it to drink with his lunch an hour earlier.
Police were asked to assist with an ambulance call at the school.
