GREEN BAY, WI -- The Green Bay City Council discussed the hiring of an outside attorney to handle the petition calling for the removal of Mayor Jim Schmitt from office.
Council President, Tom DeWane, was tasked with hiring the third party attorney.
The other council members had questions surrounding the person hired for the job.
DeWane said they contacted several firms and hired someone they felt was fully qualified and cheaper than anyone else.
"I would never want to do this without doing it right and without following a process we were given," said DeWane.
The hearing to look at this petition and decide Mayor Schmitt's fate will be held at the next city council meeting on February 20th.
