Funeral services for Nicole Nikki VanderHayden have been set according to an obituary released on Thursday. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at Celebration Church, 3475 Humboldt Road. VanderHeyden's funeral will follow.
VanderHeyden's body was found in a field in Bellevue about three miles from her home on Berkley Road in Ledgeview. Douglass Detrie now faces first degree intentional homicide charges in connection with her death.
Friend and family have set up both a Go Fund Me page and a fund on Generosity.com for funeral services and her children's future. "Just giving them the life that they deserve and she would have wanted for them," said her sister, Heather Meyer. The family is asking those wishing to share their condolences to donate to the memorial funds in lieu of sending flowers.
