Family and friends of victim Dianne Look are gathering in Weston Wednesday night to honor and remember her.
Dianne, or "Dee-Dee" as she was known, was 67, and manager of the Rothschild branch of Marathon Savings Bank when she was fatally shot last week.
Those who knew Dianne Look describe her as a happy-go-lucky spirit.. who always made everyone's day brighter at the bank.
"It's very hard," says friend Jean Mcmahon, before walking into the Brainard Funeral Home. "Her daughter worked for me for 15 years."
On Wednesday, hundreds of people in the Wausau area--including dozens of police officers from across the state--were paying their respects at Look's memorial service just hours after mourning the loss of Officer Jason Weiland.
"And I knew Dianne very well," says Mcmahon, "and it's very sad--very, very sad."
Mcmahon says Look was a skilled artist, who often raised money for good causes, like the American Cancer Society.
"It's sad," says Mcmahon, "but [I'm] happy that everyone is coming together."
Friends say the outpouring of the support the Wausau area community has seen in the past week has been overwhelming, but many are still wondering why something like this even had to happen.
"Why do we have to go through this? I mean, it is what it is, I realize," says Mcmahon, frustrated, "but it could've been handled differently."
