Fox Cities, WI -- The big weekend is finally here. The 26th annual Fox Cities Marathon kicks off on Sunday, September 18.

The route takes you through Appleton, Neenah, Menasha, Kimberly and Combined Locks.

About 7,000 people will be taking part throughout the weekend.

Almost 1,000 people are running the marathon itself.

Event leaders say there are no restrictions on what you can wear while running, but no strollers or pets are allowed.

"There's a lot of emotion on race weekend. It comes from a lot of directions. That's the really impactful part and the part that really stays with you when the weekend is over," said Amanda Secor, with SVP Marketing and Public Relations.

There are events going on all weekend.

The Kid's Fun Run, Diaper Dash and Toddler Trot are all on Friday, September 16.

Saturday is the 5K run.

The marathon is Sunday starting at 7 a.m.

The starting line for the marathon is at UW-Fox Valley and the finish line is at Riverside Park in Neenah.
