Leaders across the Fox Valley joined in a ceremony Thursday morning to celebrate the construction of the long-awaited Fox Cities Exhibition Center.
Nearly 30 years in the making, leaders say the space will bring a great deal of appeal to downtown Appleton, making it a destination for tourists and businesses alike.
Pam Seidl, of the Fox Cities Visitor's Bureau, says the site "gives us a lot of spaces to work with... it gives meeting planners options. Many times they have to bus groups off-site of if they want unique receptions, or just a different type of scenario. Having the park setting, and the plaza, gives them some options so they won't have to move large groups of people off-site."
Construction is expected to begin next week.
