Former farm dog finds new job at assisted living home

Posted

The residents at Carolina Assisted Living Home in Appleton gained a new companion Thursday.

Faith, a purebred Great Pyrenees, moved into the facility as a companion and therapy dog.

She was originally supposed to be a farm dog, but didn't have the proper disposition. That's when she made her way to Appleton.

Lori Smith, Faith's trainer, said her adoption is more than meets the eye.

"It's an amazing feeling, I feel so humbled and so blessed to be to be able to do something so incredible that makes such a huge difference, and it's not just making a difference here with the residents, it's making a difference in the community," Smith said.

Smith said Faith's effect on the residents is already being felt, and she has given some new energy to the seniors.
