Posted

The Fond du Lac Police Department is asking for the public's help tonight after a suspicious incident this week.

Police say on Wednesday around 4 PM a  young female student was walking home from Theisen Middle School when she was approached by a man.

It happened around S Main Street and 15th Street. She girl says the adult man started walking with her and talking to her, making comments that she was "cute" and asked for her name. The man even put his arm around her and tried to get her to walk on 15th Street with him.

The girl said no and walked toward her home and told her mother who reported it to police.

The man is described as a black male, about 40 years old, 5 feet 7 seven inches tall, with short hair and wearing a coat. He also had a plastic grocery bag and a man with a matching description was seen on surveillance video at the Kwik Trip on S. Main Street earlier that day.

The Fond du Lac School District was informed and police are now stepping up patrols around the schools. Police are also asking for the public's help in identifying the man for questioning.

If you have any information you should contact School Resource Officer Steve Olson at 906-6734.
