The Fond Du Lac Aquatic Center is a place full of summer fun.
"We wanted to have something for the entire family so the entire family could come," Park Superintendent John Redmond said.
Opened in 2002, the aquatic center delivers. For the younger kids there is a zero entry pool.
"A fun way for kids to jump in," Pool Supervisor Wendy Petak said.
For the older kids, there's more adventurous fun.
"A plunge slide that we're able to go down on intertubes," Redmond said.
Add in a six foot pool and other fun features and this is the result is a lot of smiling faces.
"We really have it all here," Petak said.
For years, families in and around the area have taken advantage of this affordable fun.
"It's been very, very busy," Petak said.
On a busy day they get up to a thousand people here. Many of them are the families they target.
"It's very gratifying to see all the families here and see them having fun," Redmond said.
"It's the best part of my job actually," Petak said. That sense of community, that sense of well-being, and people getting outside in the summer."
Escaping the summer heat, one trip down the slide at a time.
