Green Bay Fire Department officials issued a fireworks reminder Monday: Fireworks that leave the ground or “go boom” are illegal in Wisconsin.
A prime concern, officials said, is drinking while handling fireworks.
“Just keep safety in the back of your head,” said Lt. Shauna Wachholz of the Green Bay Metro Fire Department.
Firefighters also asked parents to never leave children unattended with fireworks, including sparklers.
The following are legal for all ages in Wisconsin, but may be illegal per local ordinance:
“Sparklers not exceeding 36 inches in length, stationary cones and fountains, toy snakes, smoke bombs, caps, noisemakers, confetti poppers with less than ¼ grain of explosive mixture, and novelty devices that spin or move on the ground.”
