ThedaCare Medical Center in Shawano sustained damage after a fire hydrant malfunctioned and flooded part of the hospital. The incident happened around 10:00 AM Tuesday morning.
As of early Wednesday morning, hospital personnel report the building's structure is sound. Operations for the hospital are being adjusted for the day.
The Emergency Department continues to see patients as they arrive. However, 16 patients were transferred to other hospital since last night.
Surgeries are canceled for Wednesday and Thursday. There are limited imaging and lab services available.
Administrators say the clinic will remain open for patients.
The clinic remains open for patient care, including specialists scheduled to see patients on Wednesday.
Bottled water is being used for all purposes until it can be declared safe by the public health department which should be complete by Thursday.
