Festival Foods on University Avenue in Green Bay has received an award from the Brown County Dementia Friendly Coalition.
All of the managers and nearly all of the store's 240 employees have completed dementia training. It teaches them how to help those with the disease have the best customer experience possible.
"We decided that it was really important as all of us are affected in some way or form with people, maybe in our family, that may have dementia. So we had somebody come in and train our leadership team on what signs to look for, how to respond to people who may have dementia, and how to navigate through their world," said Laura Brady, Front End Manager at Festival Foods Green Bay North.
Store leaders say the training has helped younger associates relate to those dealing with Alzheimer's and dementia in their personal lives.
