Farm quarantined as deer tests positive for CWD

Posted

A Marinette County deer breeding farm has been quarantined, after a white tail deer tested positive for Chronic Wasting Disease.

State officials said the deer died during fawning. They say the 320 other deer still on this farm are being quarantined to make sure other deer aren't infected.

CWD is a deadly, neurological disease of deer, elk and moose. It is caused by an infectious protein that affects the animal's brain.
