APPLETON, WI -- An Appleton family is without a home after a fire broke out Thursday night.
Fire fighters were called to a home at 25 Oriole Court around six o'clock.
Upon arrival, heavy smoke and fire could be seen from an attached garage. Due to quick action by fire crews, the fire was contained to the the garage.
One person was home at the time, and was alerted to the fire by a working smoke alarm. He was able to leave his home and go to a neighbor's house. No one was hurt.
Everything inside the home, including a car in the garage, is damaged.
The cause is still under investigation.
Firefighters say the extreme cold made firefighting operations very difficult. Warming services were provided by the Outagamie County Emergency Response Team.
