Excess stadium sales tax public meeting tonight

Posted

GREEN BAY, Wis—A meeting will be held on to discuss how to spend excess stadium sales tax money.

Mayor Jim Schmitt and Alderman Tom DeWayne will host the meeting on December 17th.

The public is welcome to share their ideas on how they think the money should be used.

The meeting runs from 5:00-6:30 p.m. at the City Council Chambers on North Jefferson Street.

In October, the state Assembly approved a bill that would return $17 million in excess Lambeau Field taxes to Brown County taxpayers and local government.

A half-cent sales tax went into effect in January 2001 in Brown County to help pay for stadium upgrades.
