Congressman Mike Gallagher joined women truckers on the road Saturday.
Gallagher participated in a ride-along at an event to demonstrate the role women have as drivers in the trucking industry.
Women leaders say they are a realistic solution to a growing truck-driver shortage.
"We feel that women can do the job, the problem is a lot of women don't know they can do the job," Ellen Voie said. "They don't know how much the industry has changed, the equipment has changed, the technology."
The event today also highlighted the high number of jobs available for women in the trucking industry at the current time.
