An effort to update the Department of Veterans Affairs appeals process is underway.
Senator Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) is co-sponsoring a bill with two other Democratic senators.
Senator Baldwin says the appeals process is broken and needs to be fixed, because too many veterans are waiting too long to hear back from the department.
The appeals process hasn't been updated since 1933, and more than 450,000 appeals are currently pending.
