WEST ALLIS -- A major upset in the world of competitive eating occurred in West Allis.

The cheese curd eating contest at the Wisconsin State Fair brought down one of the greats -- and he saw it coming.

This was the first ever cheese curd eating contest at the state fair, so records were going to be broken.

With $4,000 in prize money at stake, the event attracted some of the world’s best competitive eaters -- including the number one ranked Joey Chestnut.

Competitors had six minutes to gobble down as many of the delectable dairy treats as they could, with the Wisconsin State Fair dairy promotion board donating 125 pounds of curds.

The competition was hard-fought, but in the end, a major upset.

The mighty Joey Chestnut was defeated, coming in third. Number six ranked Gideon Oji came in second.  And the winner, with five pounds, 2 ounces of cheese curds consumed in six minutes-- Darron Breeden.
