Door County’s popular Eagle Tower will not be torn down.
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is no longer talking about tearing down the observation tower at Peninsula State Park, according to the Door Property Owners group that started a petition to save the tower.
According to Kathie Vavra, vice president of Door Property Owners, the DNR is projecting a spring of 2017 re-opening of the Eagle Tower, but there are still discussions between the legislature and the DNR that need to occur to see if they will require Knowles-Nelson Stewardship dollars to move the project forward.
