The Friends of 1000 Islands Environmental Center has been selected as a 2017 Cellcom Green Gift recipient, getting a $1,500 donation to support Eagle Days along the Fox River.

This year's annual Eagle Days will be held January 27, 2018 at 1000 Islands Environmental Center in Kaukauna.

The event is a celebration of the bald eagles that spend winter on the Fox River in search of fish in the open water. There are opportunities to view eagles and participate in hands-on educational activities.

"There is no other craft or activity that can get the public passionate about bald eagles and their environment than getting the opportunity to see one up close and personal,” said Debbie Nowak, naturalist at 1000 Islands Environmental Center, in a press release. “Our goal for the event is to educate the public on the status of bald eagles, including their history and the effects that humans have had on them."

The Green Gift from Cellcom will fund the programming provided by the National Eagle Center, located in Wabasha, Minnesota.
