Car crashes into retention pond

A man was injured as well as his passengers and dog after crashing his car into a retention pond in Grand Chute.

It happened around 11:30 PM last night in the 2600 block of W. Grand Chute Boulevard.

Grand Chute Police arrived on the scene to find two people who had climbed out of the vehicle which was submerged in five feet of water. The driver and dog were trapped inside the vehicle and needed extrication by the fire department.

The driver was taken to Appleton Medical Center and is in critical condition. The other two passengers were also treated for hypothermia.

The vehicle has been pulled out of the pond by the Outagamie County Sheriff's dive team.

An investigation into the crash is currently ongoing.
