MANITOWOC, Wis-- A 25-year-old Green Bay man is arrested, after leading police on a high speed chase through Manitowoc County on Thursday morning.

Around 1:30 a.m. officers noticed the car traveling at a high rate of speed in the wrong lane on the 10th Street Bridge.

The driver continued on New York Avenue, North Rapids Road, and Waldo Boulevard, disregarding flashing red lights.

Deputies managed to get behind the vehicle as it left Manitowoc city limits on County Highway R. They continued to follow east on Highway 310, and County Highway B. The vehicle then crossed back into city limits, eventually reaching a drop off turnaround at Lincoln Public High School.

At the school the speeding vehicle made a U-turn, and sideswiped two separate Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Deputy squad cars. The suspect continued on, coming to a brief stop on Columbus Street and 8th Street. As deputies stopped behind the suspect, he threw his vehicle into reverse and rammed the front end of a squad car. The driver then continued westbound on Columbus Street, disregarding stop signs. Once the driver reached 11th Street the suspect again, put the vehicle in reverse, slamming another deputy’s squad car.

The suspect proceeded northbound on S. 11th Street, where deputies used Pursuit Intervention Techniques to spin the suspect vehicle out of control, and box in the car.

The driver was arrested without further incident. He was taken to a hospital to be evaluated for minor injuries before being taken to the Manitowoc County Jail.

Alcohol and drug consumption were not believed to be factors in the incident.

The driver’s vehicle and one deputy’s squad car had to be towed from the scene.

No officers were injured.
